Meet Our People

Mr. Maemura brings years of experience advising multinational companies in cross-border deals involving mergers & acquisitions and financial due diligence. He often serves as a guest speaker on U.S. international tax matters at leadership meetings in Asia.

Prior to starting Maemura & Co., he began his career in accounting with one of The Big Four where he served high technology multinational companies. His responsibilities include assisting on outbound and inbound tax related issues for global companies and international business formation and structuring.

Mr. Maemura was born in Japan and educated in the US. He graduated from University of California, Berkeley and enjoys playing the trumpet.

Rebecca Hua

With a will to gain in-depth knowledge of accounting, Rebecca came to the US and earned her master’s degree in accounting and business analysis from the University of Pittsburgh.

She chose to join the firm because it specializes in international transactions. She enjoys solving various international accounting issues and working on multinational consolidations. To better help clients achieve their business success, she became a CPA and devoted herself to providing comprehensive accounting services, including international tax returns, audits, and reviews.

In her spare time, she likes hiking, traveling, and baking.

Linna Zhang

After earning a degree from Zhejiang University of technology in China, Linna came to US to attend University of Maryland.

She chose to join the firm because it specializes in international transactions. Her biggest strength is analyzing complicated investments and she says working with oversea clients on multinational consolidation is extremely challenging but rewarding.

When she is not in the office, you may find Linna enjoying lots of outdoor activities including skiing, golfing, and hiking with her dog.

“One of the firm’s top priorities is technical training and I am getting a lot of that. Accounting and tax rules are constantly changing and its challenging.”

Spencer W. Hatfield

Director of Quality Control and Technical Review

Spencer graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He leads the firm’s transfer pricing practice, he helped to establish and is deeply involved in oversight of the firm’s international tax, financial attestation, and business valuation services.

He discovered a natural talent for accounting in high school and became a CPA because the profession offers the chance to create value for clients and community.

Spencer is from Novato, California and enjoys vocal performance, trail running, and spending time with his family.

“Here there are opportunities to develop technical expertise, travel internationally and make active contributions to the organization not often available anywhere else.”
